Who is Afraid of Pain When You Have Hypnotherapy On Your Side

If recent research is anything to go by, people who have been suffering from critical physical pain may finally have an effective and permanent pain killer. No, it doesn’t come in the form of a pill, but you can be rest assured that it could be your best bet against physical. Hypnotherapy or hypnosis has emerged as one of the best ways to tackle a variety of painful physical conditions, and it has research backing its efficiency. A controlled study conducted in the Netherlands allotted 40 Fibromyalgia patients hypnotherapy or physical therapy treatment for 12 weeks, with a follow up at the end of 24 weeks; it was found at the end of the study that the patients who received hypnotherapy as a treatment to their painful condition, fared better than those who just got physical therapy.

When a person is suffering from physical pain, it is aggravated by the way that individual’s mind intercepts and understands that pain. If you could control your mind and teach it to react to physical pain in a manner which is different from the usual reaction, half your battle would be won. Research has proven that the human brain cannot feel pain; instead it can just send signals to rest of the body about something being amiss in the form of pain. Wouldn’t it be great if you could tutor your brain to redirect these energies elsewhere, so that you could avoid feeling the pain?

This is exactly what hypnotherapy does; it connects with your subconscious mind and retrains its reactions towards pain. Hypnosis works on levels, the first level is about physical relaxation, which is critical in a person suffering from physical pain. When a person is in pain, the high anxiety levels cause their muscles to tighten which can increase the degree of pain in the body. Once you learn to relax, the pain can be soothed away gradually. Hypnotherapy also trains your subconscious mind to change the way it recognizes pain; it helps the mind to change the sensation of pain into something else. And finally it teaches your mind to pay less attention to the pain and concentrate on other things. Once you have learnt these techniques, you will have armed yourself with a priceless tool to battle physical pain all through your life.
